What can you say about this? We all know that movies based on videogames have a curse, but so keep trying. But worst of all is that, for some reason, every time they try to franchisees whose own universes are not sufficient to create a good film. Maybe on purpose or maybe not, but no movies you doing Gears of War, Halo, Mass Effect or Bioshock. True, some of these already have existing projects, but with many years of surprises that have not yet been adapted from popular series. In this case it is the movie Tekken, and all I can say is, hopefully no worse than Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, that beyond how bad they are, do not melt your eyes.
The plot occurs in the year 2039, in a world where most of civilization has been devastated by wars. The territories are not controlled by governments, but corporations with Mishima Zaibatsu being the most powerful. To have controlled the masses, the company organizes a tournament called Tekken, where all participants fight until only one remains standing. The main character is Jin Kazama, a young wrestler looking to avenge the death of his mother, whose fault is the president of Mishima Zaibatus and knows that the only way to approach is going into the tournament. Since you can already see that it is not the most original plots.
Fortunately, this type of film the plot is not what matters most, but action. And the trailer can be seen to be an interesting choreography. On the production side, the adjustment was made by Alan B. McElroy and directed by Dwight Little, who has directed episodes of Prison Break, 24, Bones and Dollhouse. Some of the actors who will participate are: Luke Goss, Gary Daniels, Cung Le and Jon Foo. We do not know how many characters of the games appear, but in the trailer we have recognized more than one.
Please excuse our negativity, but we've been hurt enough times to believe that this film can be more than decent and may not even be that. Even if, as seen in the trailer looks like a traditional action film, but hopefully will be a little more than that. Tekken is due for release in March 2010 and we ... The hope with fear.
